Nutrition Concepts and Controversies, MyPyramid Update
Posted on September 11th, 2008 at 6:38 am by healthcarenow and

NUTRITION: CONCEPTS AND CONTROVERIES, MYPYRAMID UPDATE TENTH EDITION focuses on nutrition principles and their application while offering outstanding coverage of the biological foundations of nutrition without assuming previous knowledge of them. With its new design, contemporary coverage, and engaging writing style, it remains the leading Nutrition text for the non-majors or mixed majors/non-majors introductory course. Drawing readers into the study of nutrition, the authors have created a number of learning tools that are both appealing and accessible. From the chapter content and new “Do You Ever…” sections to the “Food Feature” boxes and end-of-chapter “Controversies,” students find the information they need to better understand important nutrition concepts and to make informed and responsible decisions about their own nutrition. Additionally, the “Do It” activities, now available online, on the student CD-ROM, and in a free booklet that can be packaged with the text, students can practice applying their nutrition knowledge. There is also the accompanying NUTRITION CONNECTIONS CD-ROM, a unique resource that includes animations, chapter quizzes, a comprehensive glossary, “Do It!” activities, and Web links. For instructors, we offer a newly redesigned Multimedia Manager that includes PowerPoint? slides, animations, videos, and test questions. We also offer a new JoinIn? on TurningPoint?, a classroom resource to assess students’ knowledge, take attendance, and more. So, whether looking for a text full of up-to-date information, a text that students enjoy reading, a text that offers a robust supplements package, or a text that can engage students and get them excited about studying, NUTRITION CONCEPTS AND CONTROVERSIES is the text for you!

Confidence Foldable Stow Away Exercise Bike
Posted on September 6th, 2008 at 11:48 pm by healthcarenow and

I am enjoying this bike a great deal. It doesn’t take up too much room, although the “stow away” aspect of it was not as impressive as I was hoping–when you fold it up, you save maybe 1 foot of room. But that’s okay because it’s still a pretty skinny device. I keep it in the closet and roll it out every day–I wouldn’t say it’s light (it’s about 40 lbs) but it’s not hard to maneuver. Assembly was not that difficult. All in all, a great bike for getting some exercise while doing other things (I watch TV, read, or play a game on my Nintendo DS).

Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum, Concentrated Amino-Peptide Complex

I know most people who use this product are women, but I must say that I am a 30 year old male that has been using this product now for about three weeks. My skin is noticeably smoother and more even-toned. I don’t really have wrinkles to speak of, but I do notice a wonderful glow and softness to my skin that I have never had before. Additionally, the area around my eyes seems more toned and firm. I’ve tried many products and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised to find that Olay (one of the cheaper among the items I have tried) worked most effectively (and without irritating my VERY sensitive skin).

Sahale Snacks, Variety Pack of 6 Flavors

While the flavor is unique, overall it was a BIG MISTAKE to order these.

Three of the five packets of nuts were rancid! To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have had problems with the freshness of food products purchased from Amazon.

What about the other two non-rancid packets? I got through one in a few days, and I was working on the other … then I realized I had a major head-fog, you know, like a hangover, but without having had anything to drink. I gave up the nuts & it went away. For me, that’s a tell-tale sign of additives in food. Not a good choice for someone with allergies & chemical sensitivities. Hardly a product that could be considered “natural”. That must be the innocuous “spices” listed as an ingredient.

I purchased this on a SD recommendation. But it was a complete & utter waste of money for me. And, did I say 5 packs … Yes. I received 5, not a pack of 6 as decribed here.

My recommendation … try one pack (I think they are available at Target) before buying them all. If you have chemical sensitivities or allergies, you just might stay away entirely.
